There is no qualification for wheels.
So we made one.
You can qualify to fit a tyre, service a car or spray a panel. You cannot qualify in wheels — despite it being a safety-critical component where the wrong offset, the wrong bolt seat or the wrong load rating puts somebody on a hard shoulder.
The Certified Wheel Specialist standard is the first of its kind: the technical knowledge, the sales craft, a live assessment against a real customer, and a certificate anybody can look up.
Level 1 — Wheel Sales Crash Course
Enough to start selling wheels properly at your counter this week.
Level 2 — Certified Wheel Specialist
Wheels, properly. The qualification — not a sales course.
Renewal — Certified Wheel Specialist
Short. Every two years. Keeps your number and your listing.
Trade Desk
Buying, margin, ordering and the rules. Trade accounts only.
Assessed on a customer, not a worksheet
You cannot certify somebody who has only ever ticked boxes. The final assessment puts you in front of a customer who is vague about their car, worried about the price and in no rush to buy — and you have to actually sell to them, in your own words. It is then marked on what you said.
A customer is in for two front tyres on a 2018 Golf. The car is on the standard 17" alloys and they are tired — lacquer peeling on two, one lightly kerbed. They have not asked abou…
A customer rings about one badly kerbed 19" wheel on a 2021 BMW 3 Series — diamond-cut face, gouged through the lacquer into the metal. They want it 'tidied up cheap'. Your job is …
A customer has priced a set of 19" wheels on a website and wants you to match it. The online price is real, but it is wheels only, drop-shipped, with no fitting, no TPMS, no spigot…
A customer has their heart set on a specific wheel and size they have seen on a car online. On their car, in that offset, it will foul. The sale you want is the one where they leav…
A certificate that can be checked
Every certificate carries a number, is valid for two years, and appears on the public register if the holder chooses. A customer standing in your reception can verify it on their phone in ten seconds — which is the entire point of a qualification.
