Overview

The Audi A4 B5 Facelift is a luxury compact executive car produced from November 1994 to 2001, marking the first generation of the Audi A4 series which succeeded the Audi 80. Built on the Volkswagen Group B platform (PL45), it was available as a four-door sedan and five-door Avant station wagon. The facelift introduced in February 1999 brought cosmetic updates including new rear lights, headlights, door handles, and minor interior changes. It featured a range of petrol and diesel engines with options for Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system.

The B5 generation saw significant development from 1988 to its production start in November 1994. The facelift introduced in February 1999 was known as the Grosse Produktaufwertung (Major Product Upgrade) and included a new 2.5-liter V6 Turbocharged Direct Injection diesel engine for quattro models, along with six-speed manual gearboxes and high-performance variants like the Audi S4 and RS4 Avant.
