Overview

The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car introduced by Audi AG in 2006 and manufactured exclusively by Audi Sport GmbH at the Neckarsulm factory. It uses an aluminium monocoque based on the Audi Space Frame and features Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system. The first generation (Type 42) was launched with V8 and V10 engine options, followed by a convertible variant in 2008 and high-performance GT models from 2011 onwards. A facelift introduced the V10 Plus model in 2012 before production ended in August 2015. The second generation (Type 4S) was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, sharing a platform with the Lamborghini Huracán and featuring an all-electric e-Tron variant alongside V10 models. Production concluded in March 2024.
