Overview
The Audi Q5 first generation (Typ 8R) is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by Audi from July 2008 to 2017. It was the third member of the B8 family, following the A5 and fourth-generation A4, all based on the Volkswagen Group MLB platform. The vehicle features front-engine, front-wheel drive or quattro four-wheel-drive configurations. Early models included petrol engines like 3.2 FSI V6 and diesel options such as 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI V6. Production took place in multiple locations including Ingolstadt (Germany), Kaluga (Russia), Changchun (China), Aurangabad (India), Shah Alam (Malaysia).

The Q5 was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in 2008 and later at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It went on sale in Europe from October 2008, North America in early 2009, India in June 2009, Middle East in Q2 2009, and Japan in 2010. A facelift was introduced in summer 2012 with new engines for better output and efficiency.
