Overview

The BMW G20/G21 is the seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series, introduced in October 2018 and featuring a facelift in July 2022. It includes sedan (G20) and wagon (Touring, G21) variants built on the CLAR platform with increased use of high-strength steel and aluminum. The car is produced globally across multiple plants including Munich, Shenyang, San Luis Potosí, Chennai, Rayong, Jakarta, Kulim, Araquari, Chu Lai, and Mexico City. It replaces the 3 Series Gran Turismo body style with the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé.

History & notable variants

Development began in late 2015 when Alexey Kezha's design was chosen by BMW management. The G20 was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018 and went on sale in March 2019. Notable variants include the M340i, launched in spring 2019, and the plug-in hybrid 330e model introduced at Geneva in 2019. The facelifted version (LCI) was announced in May 2022 with significant interior updates including a dual curved display.
