Overview

The BMW G20 and G21 are the seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series, introduced in October 2018. They consist of a sedan (G20) and a station wagon (Touring/G21). Production takes place in Germany, China, Mexico, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, and Vietnam. The G20 is based on the BMW CLAR platform with increased use of high-strength steel and aluminum, featuring MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. Compared to its predecessor (F30), it is lighter by 55 kg, longer by 85 mm, and wider by 16 mm.

History & notable variants

The G20 was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018 and went on sale in March 2019. It received a facelift (LCI) in July 2022 with updated front and rear designs, new headlights, and an interior featuring a dual curved display with BMW OS 8. The M340i became available for sale in the spring of 2019, followed by the plug-in hybrid model 330e later that year.
