Overview

The BMW 4 Series is a compact executive car manufactured by BMW since 2013. It was created when BMW spun off the two-door models (coupé and convertible) from the 3 Series into a separate series. The first generation of the 4 Series, produced from 2014 to 2020, includes coupé, convertible, and Gran Coupé body styles. It shares many features with the F30 3 Series and is powered by turbocharged petrol and diesel engines.

The original concept car was unveiled in January 2013 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The first generation (F32/F33/F36) introduced high-performance M4 models with a turbocharged inline-six engine, while the second generation (G22/G23/G26), launched in June 2020, features a distinctive large kidney grille and is produced alongside the G20 3 Series. The BMW 420i M Sport was named 'Coupé of the Year' by What Car? magazine in January 2021.
