Overview
The BMW E34 is the third generation of the BMW 5 Series produced from November 1987 to June 1996. Initially launched as a saloon in January 1988, it later included a station wagon variant starting September 1992. The E34 was built at Dingolfing and Rosslyn plants for Germany and South Africa respectively, with some models assembled in Thailand. This generation marked the introduction of all-wheel drive (525iX) and V8 engines to the series, alongside advanced features like stability control and adjustable damping systems.

Development began in 1981 under Ercole Spada's initial design proposal and was finalized by J Mays for production. The E34 debuted at the end of 1987 with a focus on aerodynamics (drag coefficient of 0.30). Notable variants include the BMW M5, powered by the S38 engine in both sedan and wagon forms. Special editions like the Alpina B10 series offered enhanced performance options.

Go wider and the offset has to rise with it, about 8 to 10 ET per extra 1J, or the wheel pokes past the arch. The fit-check settles the exact offset and any spacer.
