Overview
The BMW 5 Series (G60) represents the eighth generation of this executive car series manufactured by BMW since July 2023. It is built on an updated version of the rear-wheel drive Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform, shared with the larger G70 7 Series. The lineup includes the G60 saloon, G61 estate (Touring), and the long-wheelbase G68 model exclusive to China. This generation introduces a battery electric powertrain variant called 'i5', offering three models: eDrive40, xDrive40, and M60 xDrive.

History & notable variants
Development of the BMW 5 Series (G60) began with testing in February 2022, including rigorous winter tests in Arjeplog, Sweden. The car was officially revealed on May 24, 2023, and production commenced at Dingolfing Plant in July 2023. Sales started in October of the same year. The G61 Touring variant debuted in February 2024.
