Overview
The BMW X1 II (F48/F49) is the second generation of the subcompact luxury crossover SUV, introduced at the September 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and later at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. It marks a shift from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive (sDrive), with an optional all-wheel drive (xDrive). Built on the modular UKL2 platform shared with MINI models, it offers improved interior space despite being shorter in wheelbase compared to its predecessor. A long-wheelbase variant (F49) was introduced for the Chinese market in 2016.

The F48 X1 underwent a facelift (LCI) in May 2019, featuring new LED headlights and bumpers with LED taillights, along with updated wheels and grille design. The plug-in hybrid xDrive25e model was also introduced in September 2019.
