Overview
The BMW X1 (F48) is the second generation of the subcompact luxury crossover SUV. Introduced in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and later at the Tokyo Motor Show, it marks a shift from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive (sDrive), with optional all-wheel drive (xDrive). Built on the UKL2 platform shared with MINI models, it offers improved interior space despite being shorter in wheelbase compared to its predecessor. A long-wheelbase variant was introduced for the Chinese market in 2016.

In May 2019, a facelifted LCI model was unveiled featuring new LED headlights and bumpers with LED taillights, along with a larger kidney grille. The xDrive25e plug-in hybrid version was also introduced in September 2019.
