Overview

The BMW X1 II (F48) is the second generation of the subcompact luxury crossover SUV, unveiled at the September 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and later at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. It marks a shift from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive (sDrive), with an optional all-wheel-drive system (xDrive). Built on the modular UKL2 platform shared with MINI models, it offers increased interior space despite being shorter in wheelbase compared to its predecessor.

History & notable variants

The F48 X1 underwent a facelift (LCI) in May 2019, introducing new LED headlights and bumpers, as well as an updated kidney grille design. A long-wheelbase variant was introduced for the Chinese market in 2016 with additional interior space and hybrid options.
