Overview

The BMW Z4 E85/E86 is a sports car produced from July 2002 to December 2008, succeeding the BMW Z3. It was manufactured in Greer, South Carolina at the Plant Spartanburg. The first generation of the Z4 includes both roadster (E85) and coupé (E86) body styles; the coupé version was introduced later in 2006. This model is based on a platform related to the BMW 3 Series E46, featuring front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.

History & notable variants

The Z4 roadster was designed by Anders Warming and launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2002. The coupé version followed in 2005 with its production starting in late May 2006. Notable special models include the Alpina Roadster S (2004-2006) and the Concept Coupé Mille Miglia (2006).
