History & notable variants
The second generation EcoSport was launched globally in 2012 and entered production in India at the Chennai plant, followed by other markets like Thailand, Russia, Romania, Brazil, China, and Vietnam. In Europe, it faced initial challenges with sales but saw improvements after a facelift in 2015. Production moved to Ford's Craiova factory in Romania for European models starting from autumn 2017. The EcoSport was discontinued across various markets due to declining sales and production shifts.
