History & notable variants
The fourth generation Focus was introduced to mark Ford's 20th anniversary of the model in April 2018, featuring a sportier exterior design and simplified interior. In August 2018, plans for North American production were cancelled due to tariffs on Chinese imports. The Focus RS was discontinued by 2020 due to high development costs and stringent European emissions standards. A facelift was introduced in October 2021 for the European market.
