The third generation of the Ford Mondeo was introduced in late 2006 based on the EUCD platform developed with Volvo Cars, marking a significant shift from its predecessors. In September 2010, the third generation received a mid-cycle facelift with new EcoBoost engines and LED daytime running lights. The front and rear design were updated under the Kinetic Design theme, while interior quality was enhanced. This generation saw its production end in Europe in March 2022 as consumer interest shifted towards crossovers and SUVs.
