Overview

The second generation of the Mercedes-Benz Citan (W420) was introduced in August 2021 as a panel van and Tourer variant. Based on the third-generation Renault Kangoo, it rides on the CMF-CD platform, which also underpins the T-Class MPV. This model replaces the existing Citan Traveliner and Citan Tourer, offering improved safety features and modern amenities.

History & notable variants

In March 2024, the second generation of the Mercedes-Benz Citan received a Platinum rating from Euro NCAP due to its advanced active safety systems. The T-Class MPV variant was released in April 2022 with plans for a long-wheelbase version seating seven people. In October 2021, an electric variant, the eCitan, was announced alongside the regular Citan.
