Overview
The Mercedes-Benz Citan is a panel van and leisure activity vehicle introduced as a badge-engineered variant of the Renault Kangoo in 2012. It is marketed by Mercedes-Benz as the successor to the Vaneo compact MPV, being the smallest model offered alongside the mid-size Vito (aka Viano, V-Class, and EQV) and large Sprinter. The Citan was assembled by Renault subsidiary MCA in Maubeuge, France, from 2012 until its discontinuation in 2021.

History & notable variants
The first generation of the Mercedes-Benz Citan (W415) was launched as a result of Daimler's partnership with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. It aimed to cater to both passenger car and light commercial vehicle markets, marking Mercedes-Benz’s return to this segment since 1995. The model received safety improvements after initial Euro NCAP testing in April 2013, achieving a four-star rating for its Traveliner variant later on.
