Overview
The first generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured since 2013, based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars. It was introduced as a four-door sedan marketed as a four-door coupé and later expanded to include a Shooting Brake variant in 2015. The CLA is Mercedes-Benz's first front-wheel drive vehicle offered in the American market, positioned above the A-Class and nearly on par with the C-Class in terms of luxury and performance.

History & notable variants
The design of the C117 CLA was based on the Concept Style Coupe concept unveiled at various events in 2012. It was publicly unveiled at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, with sales commencing in September 2013. The vehicle underwent a facelift in 2017, introducing new restyled headlights and taillights with available bold LED lighting. Notable variants include the CLA Edition 1 (2013–2015) and the AMG CLA 45 (2013–2019).
