The Mercedes-Benz M-Class (W164) is a second-generation mid-size luxury SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz from 2005 to 2015. It succeeded the body-on-frame W163 and adopted a unibody platform, sharing components with the GL-Class. The vehicle was manufactured in Vance, Alabama, USA, after production moved there in 2015 for harmonization with the E-Class naming hierarchy. Development on the W164 began in 1999, leading to its introduction at the North American International Auto Show in January 2005 as a 2006 model.
