Overview
The Mercedes-Benz M-Class (W166) is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz from 2011 to 2015. It was the third generation of the M-Class, which was renamed GLE in 2015 with minor styling changes and platform updates. The W166 model moved away from the body-on-frame construction used in previous generations to a unibody design, aligning it more closely with Mercedes-Benz's sedan lineup. This transition aimed at improving ride quality and handling while maintaining its off-road capabilities. Production initially took place in Stuttgart for European and Australian markets before moving entirely to Vance, Alabama, USA, in 2015.
History & notable variants
The W166 generation of the M-Class was introduced in 2011 as a significant update over the previous model (W164). It featured a new unibody platform for improved ride quality and handling. Notable changes included revised styling, enhanced interior technology, and an expanded range of engine options to meet growing market demands. The W166 was built in Stuttgart until 2015 when production shifted entirely to the Vance plant in Alabama with minor updates.

Go wider and the offset has to rise with it, about 8 to 10 ET per extra 1J, or the wheel pokes past the arch. The fit-check settles the exact offset and any spacer.
