Overview

The second generation Mercedes-Benz Viano (W639) is a large MPV produced from 2003 to 2010. It features a more streamlined design compared to its predecessor, with a horizontal windshield and A-pillar angle, larger dashboard, smaller bonnet, and rear-wheel drive drivetrain. Available in three lengths and four diesel engine versions (109 CDI, 111 CDI, 115 CDI, 120 CDI), the Viano offers seating for up to eight passengers with sliding, reclining, and removable rear seats. It can also be converted into a cargo van or camper van variant like the Marco Polo.

History & notable variants

In 2010, the second generation Viano received a facelift with revised front and rear bumpers and lights, improved interior materials, and new technology features such as ambient lighting and optional rear seat entertainment. The Viano was also used in motorsports events including support roles in the Dakar Rally and victory in the SUV category of the 19th Rallye Aicha des Gazelles.
