Toyota Prius wheel fitment — II HW20
Overview
The Toyota Prius (HW20) is the second generation produced as a compact five-door liftback since 2003. It underwent significant changes from its predecessor, including an all-electric A/C compressor for cooling and a more aerodynamic Kammback body design with a drag coefficient of Cd=0.26. The Prius uses a smaller and lighter NiMH battery, making it more powerful and efficient than the previous model. Production commenced in August 2003 at the Tsutsumi plant in Toyota, Aichi, Japan.
History & notable variants
The second generation was presented at the April 2003 New York International Auto Show for the 2004 US model year. It became a compact liftback sized between the Corolla and Camry with increased rear-seat legroom and luggage room. The Prius is classified as an SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) and certified by California Air Resources Board as an 'Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle' (AT-PZEV).
Toyota Prius wheel fitment
Everything below is what the fit-check uses for Toyota Prius wheel fitment: the factory bolt spec first, then the width and offset window that clears the arches and the brakes on the Toyota Prius (II) HW20.
| Bolt pattern (PCD) | 5X100 |
| Centre bore | 54.1 mm |
| Bolt / thread | M12x1.5 (nuts) |
| Seat type | flat |
| Factory setup | square |
| Brakes | e11*2001/116*0200*. |
| TPMS | none |
Aftermarket wheel sizes — read per position:
| Position | Width | Offset |
|---|---|---|
| Front | 6J–8.5J | ET18–ET45 |
Go wider and the offset has to rise with it, about 8 to 10 ET per extra 1J, or the wheel pokes past the arch. The fit-check settles the exact offset and any spacer.
UK popularity & demand
Based on DfT VEH0124 vehicle-parc data (2025), there are approximately 84,839 Toyota Prius on UK roads, placing it in the top 5% of car models by volume across our fitment database.
That makes Toyota Prius wheel fitment a high-demand spec to keep in stock. It is one reason we track it here.
