Vauxhall Ampera wheel fitment — D1JOI
Overview
The Vauxhall Ampera D1JOI is a rebadged version of the Chevrolet Volt first generation, produced from November 2010 to May 2015. It was manufactured at the Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly in the United States and later introduced into numerous European markets with visual modifications to differentiate it from the Volt. The Ampera is a five-door liftback featuring an innovative GM Voltec powertrain, which includes two electric motors, a lithium-ion battery pack, and a small gasoline engine acting as a range extender. This setup allows the vehicle to operate purely on electricity until its battery capacity diminishes, at which point the internal combustion engine activates to extend the vehicle's range.
History & notable variants
Development of the Ampera began in 2006 under GM Vice President Robert Lutz with the aim of rebuilding General Motors' image as an environmentally-friendly and technologically advanced automaker. The project led to the creation of the E-Flex Systems (later renamed Voltec) powertrain, designed for various electricity-generating systems including gasoline, diesel, ethanol, or fuel cell-powered engines. Official series production started on November 30, 2010, with the Ampera being introduced in European markets alongside the Chevrolet Volt.
Vauxhall Ampera wheel fitment
Everything below is what the fit-check uses for Vauxhall Ampera wheel fitment: the factory bolt spec first, then the width and offset window that clears the arches and the brakes on the Vauxhall Ampera D1JOI.
| Bolt pattern (PCD) | 5x115 |
| Centre bore | 70.2 mm |
| Bolt / thread | M12x1.5 (nuts) |
| Seat type | tapered |
| Factory setup | square |
| TPMS | direct |
Aftermarket wheel sizes — read per position:
| Position | Width | Offset |
|---|---|---|
| Front | 6.5J–8J | ET25–ET42 |
Width and offset move together: roughly 8 to 10 ET more for every extra 1J keeps the wheel inside the arch. Final offset and any spacer come from the fit-check.
UK popularity & demand
Based on DfT VEH0124 vehicle-parc data (2025), there are approximately 1,097 Vauxhall Ampera on UK roads, placing it in the top 29% of car models by volume across our fitment database.
With that many on the road, Vauxhall Ampera wheel fitment is a spec fitters see constantly. We keep it current for that reason.
