Overview

The Volkswagen Arteon is a large family car or mid-size car available in five-door liftback and shooting brake body styles. It was unveiled on March 6, 2017, at the Geneva Motor Show and debuted for North America at the Chicago Auto Show. The Arteon is positioned above the Passat and is based on Volkswagen's MQB platform. Production of the saloon ended in 2023, while the shooting brake was supposed to continue until 2026 but was prematurely discontinued by the end of 2024.

History & notable variants

The Arteon received a facelift in 2020 which included new digital instrument panels and infotainment screens. This year also saw the introduction of the Shooting Brake variant, plug-in hybrid eHybrid model, and the high-performance R version. The car was discontinued for the Canadian market after the 2021 model year due to poor sales.
