Overview
The Volkswagen Crafter is a large light commercial vehicle produced by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles from 2006 to 2017. It replaced the Volkswagen Transporter LT and was initially based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, with engines provided by Volkswagen Group. The first generation Crafter was available in various body styles including panel van, minibus, double cab, and chassis models. Production took place at Daimler AG's plants in Ludwigsfelde and Düsseldorf until 2016 when it moved to Września, Poland.

History & notable variants
The Crafter received a facelift in April 2011 with design changes reflecting Volkswagen’s current styling language and new engine options. It won several awards including What Van? Overall Van of the Year (UK) in 2006 and Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine Large Van of the Year (UK) in 2007. An all-electric variant, the e-Crafter, was introduced in 2017.
