Overview
The Volkswagen Cross Touran (I) 1T is the first generation of the compact MPV, manufactured by Volkswagen from December 2002 to December 2016. It was based on the PQ35 platform and shared its underpinnings with the Volkswagen Golf Mk5. The vehicle offered a five or seven-seat configuration and featured electro-mechanical steering as an industry-first. A facelift in 2006 introduced cosmetic changes, including redesigned headlights and a refreshed front grille. In late 2010, it received another update to match the newer Golf VI aesthetics.
History & notable variants
The Cross Touran was first unveiled at the Bologna Motor Show in December 2006 as a crossover variant of the standard Touran. It featured distinctive styling elements such as 17-inch alloy wheels and plastic guards that gave it an off-road appearance, along with an optional higher suspension setup. The second facelift in August 2010 brought the Cross Touran up to date visually with the Golf VI.
