Overview

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is a battery electric minivan produced by German manufacturer Volkswagen, based on the dedicated MEB platform. It is the first production electric minivan from Volkswagen and part of the Volkswagen ID. series. Inspired by the iconic Type 2 (T1) Microbus, it was unveiled in March 2022 with production starting in June 2022. The vehicle launched initially as a five-seater passenger van and a cargo van variant called the ID. Buzz Cargo. In North America, the long-wheelbase version debuted on June 2, 2023, and became available for sale in June 2024.

History & notable variants

The concept of the ID. Buzz was first shown at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. Positive consumer interest led to its production announcement by CEO Herbert Diess in August 2017. The vehicle's production began in Hanover, Germany, with an annual capacity of 130,000 units. It is produced alongside other MEB-based models and has been launched in various markets including Europe, North America, Indonesia, and Australasia.
