Volkswagen Lupo wheel fitment — 6X, 6E
Overview
The Volkswagen Lupo (Typ 6X) is a city car produced by the German manufacturer from 1998 to 2005. It shares many aspects with the SEAT Arosa, both derived from the Polo Mk3 platform but differing in styling and equipment. The Lupo is a three-door hatchback featuring front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. Introduced in October 1998 to fill the gap at the bottom of Volkswagen's model range caused by the larger Polo, it was assembled in Wolfsburg (Germany) and Brussels (Belgium). Initially offered in two trim levels—E and S—with later additions including Sport and GTI variants.
Volkswagen Lupo wheel fitment

Aftermarket wheel sizes — read per position:
| Position | Width | Offset |
|---|---|---|
| Front | 5J–8J | ET10–ET45 |
As a rule, each extra 1J of width wants roughly +8–10 ET to keep the wheel tucked. The exact offset and any spacer are confirmed by the fit-check.
UK popularity & demand
Based on DfT VEH0124 vehicle-parc data (2025), there are approximately 4,273 Volkswagen Lupo on UK roads, placing it in the top 20% of car models by volume across our fitment database.
That makes Volkswagen Lupo wheel fitment a high-demand spec to keep in stock. It is one reason we track it here.

History & notable variants
The Lupo faced slow sales and missed its targets. In 2001, Volkswagen planned to discontinue the model and replace it with a Chinese-built car but ultimately decided on the Brazilian-designed Fox as its successor in Europe. The Lupo's production ended in June 2005.
Reliability & owner notes
