The second generation Volkswagen Sharan is a seven-seater minivan produced by the German Volkswagen Group from 2010 to 2023. Built at the AutoEuropa plant in Palmela, Portugal, it shares its platform with the SEAT Alhambra and is described as a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). Compared to the previous generation, this model is significantly larger, being 220 mm longer, 92 mm wider, and 12 mm lower, with an extended wheelbase of 75 mm. The second generation Sharan underwent a facelift in 2015, introducing new electronic systems and engines with improved fuel efficiency. It continued to be produced until October 2022 when production ended after more than a decade of manufacturing at the AutoEuropa plant in Portugal. The model was discontinued in favor of newer models like the Volkswagen Viloran for the Chinese market.
