The Volkswagen Taigo is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) with a sloping roofline manufactured by Volkswagen on the MQB A0 platform. It was first released as the Nivus in Brazil in May 2020 and later launched in Europe in July 2021. The Taigo shares many components with the Mk6 Polo for efficiency, including its side doors, windshield, roof stamping, suspension setup, and most interior parts. Its design includes a raised hood giving it a rugged appearance compared to the Polo, and it offers more trunk space than the Polo (438 liters vs 300 liters). The Taigo is positioned alongside the T-Cross in Europe but below it in South America.

The Taigo/Nivus was developed using virtual reality and augmented reality technologies, reducing project time by 10 months with significant cost savings. It was first unveiled as the Nivus in Brazil on May 28, 2020, and launched in other South American markets in 2021. The European version, Taigo, was released on July 28, 2021. Production began at Volkswagen Navarra's Pamplona plant in Spain alongside the Polo and T-Cross.
