The Volkswagen Touran (I) is a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen since December 2002, with sales commencing in 2003. The Touran was announced in August 2002, with production starting in December of the same year. In 2003, it received a four-star Euro NCAP safety rating which improved to five stars after minor adjustments were made later that year. The model underwent its first facelift at the 2006 Paris Motor Show and another update in 2010 to incorporate new features like DCC adaptive suspension and Light-Assist for Xenon headlights.
