History & notable variants
Introduced in 1990, the T4 was a major departure from its predecessor with a front-mounted engine layout. It underwent a significant facelift in 1996 to accommodate the VR6 engine, which was initially exclusive to Caravelle and Multivan models but later extended across all body types. The T4's production ceased in 2003 after nearly 14 years of manufacturing, making it second only to the T1 for length of production in its home market.
