Overview

The Volkswagen Transporter (T5) is the fifth generation of the VW Commercial Vehicles' medium-sized light commercial vehicle and people mover range, replacing the T4 model. It was launched on 6 October 2002 and went into full production in April 2003. The T5 is available in over 100 configurations including panel vans, pick-ups, crew cabs, chassis trucks, minibuses, and campervans. Key markets include Germany, the UK, Russia, France, Turkey, and Singapore; it was not sold in North America due to poor sales of its predecessor, the EuroVan.

History & notable variants

In September 2009, a facelifted T5 range was launched with new technology such as dual clutch transmission (DSG), Side Lane Assist, Bi-Xenon Head Lights with LED Daytime Running Lights, and touchscreen Radio Navigation System. Engines were updated to inline-four designs, including petrol and diesel options.
