Overview

The Volkswagen Transporter T6 is the sixth generation of the Volkswagen Transporter vans, succeeding the T5 model. It was manufactured by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and assembled in Hannover, Germany; Poznań, Poland; and Kaluga, Russia. The T6 platform retained elements from its predecessor but introduced significant updates such as a new dashboard layout (standard and 'comfort' versions), revised front end styling, LED lighting options, and enhanced driver assistance features. It was available in various body styles including van, minibus, crew cab, chassis cab, and campervan configurations.

History & notable variants

The T6 underwent a mid-cycle refresh to become the T6.1 in 2019, featuring electric power steering for improved handling and more advanced driver assistance systems. The ABT e-Transporter was introduced as an electric variant of the T6.1 in 2020. Production ended in 2024 due to EU regulations requiring enhanced cybersecurity measures.
