Overview

The Volkswagen Transporter T6 is the sixth generation of the Volkswagen Transporter vans, succeeding the T5. It was manufactured by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and assembled in Hannover, Germany; Poznań, Poland; and Kaluga, Russia. The T6 retained the 7H/7J platform from its predecessor but featured numerous updates including a new dashboard layout, LED lighting options, and advanced driver assistance systems. Available in various body styles such as van, pick-up truck, minibus, crew cab, chassis cab, and campervan, it was positioned between Volkswagen's larger Crafter and smaller Caddy models.

History & notable variants

The T6 underwent a mid-cycle refresh to become the T6.1 in 2019, featuring electric power steering for enhanced driver assist functions and minor styling updates. In 2020, ABT e-Line collaborated with VW to introduce the ABT e-Transporter 6.1 as an electric variant of the T6.1. The T6 series was discontinued in favor of the MQB-based Multivan T7 due to EU regulations requiring cybersecurity compliance for new vehicles from 2024.
