Overview

The Volkswagen up! is a city car produced by the Volkswagen Group from 2011 to 2023. It is part of the New Small Family (NSF) series, alongside the SEAT Mii and Škoda Citigo which are rebadged versions with different front and rear fascias. Production began in December 2011 at the Volkswagen Plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, and continued until October 2023.

History & notable variants

The Up was first shown as a concept car in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It went into production with a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout using the NSF platform and a three-cylinder petrol engine. The model won the World Car of the Year award in 2012. A GTI variant was introduced in January 2018 featuring a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing 115 PS (113 bhp; 85 kW).
